Spectacular canal house

The Space

The UNESCO listed canal district of Amsterdam is considered one of the most prestigious areas to live in Amsterdam. The stunning architecture by day, and the large lit up windows and elegant streetlights by night reflected in the water give the area an almost magical appeal. Furthermore, because of its very central location, all that Amsterdam has to offer is at your doorstep. If you want to make your stay in this town as Amsterdam as possible, this is where you need to be.

Between the hip and trendy Utrechtsestraat and the river Amstel, along one of the nicest stretches of the Keizersgracht, is this spectacular piece of property. This large, monumental canal house was completely refurbished and split into three, luxurious and premium dwellings. The basement, ground floor, first floor and second floor were turned into a marvelous and large home with private garden. This spectacular townhome offers luxurious and exuberant living to the max. Spanning over 275 square meters/2,960 square feet, the property oozes modern elegance and is the perfect setting for relaxing and entertaining

The entry on the ground floor leads into the voluminous kitchen with adjacent dining room. The space is fitted with custom designed Gagenau units, a large island and marble counter tops. Obviously it features all the necessary appliances. In the back, a two-story high glass facade offers generous views and access to the private, south-facing garden with a pavilion in the back. A mezzanine, open to the second living room above, creates a sense of space and light. The table height electric fireplace gives warmth and character and provides a focal point at private dinner parties. In the hallway are a bike storage and a scullery with washer and dryer units.

A dramatic steel staircase leads to the first floor with a large, formal living room in the front. This room maintained much of the original character of the 17th Century architecture such as the large windows overlooking the canal and the exposed beams. A newly installed electric fireplace with custom built-ins, further ads to the historic feel. A second living room in the back, with a mezzanine open to the kitchen below can function as an entertainment room, an informal sitting room or a home office.

The staircase continues to the secondd floor. Here are two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is situated in the front and overlooks the historic canal. It has a large walk-in wardrobe, a private en-suite Carrara marble bathroom with bath, shower and vanity and a separate powder room. The bedroom in the back also has its own private bathroom with marble finishing’s, more than enough closet space, custom made wall covered headboard and a balcony. Both bathrooms can be used as master suite.

In the newly dug basement, accessible from the main entry, a wine cellar and a private wellness room with Jacuzzi and shower provide the proverbial icing on this delicious cake.
